Surviving and thriving . . . Without Gods! You will find more joy and happiness in your life if you discover living . . . without gods! by Anton Kozlik

What would happen if you eliminated religion?

Fortunately for atheists, agnostics, free thinkers and humanists — they will never have to face the consequences of such an event.
They will live in Judeo-Christian countries while they continue to embrace their “non-belief”. And since their beliefs go unchallenged, they grow, multiply, mutate and if they are lucky, ten other people will adopt their unique philosophy as their mantra.
With the support of ten other people they can relax. They do not need to subject their philosophies to larger groups since their immediate needs are being satisfied. Their message to anyone who disagrees is “start your own group!”
So thousands, and thousands of distinct little groups share their own distinct philosophies while subscribing to one basic premise – they don't believe in the supernatural – they don't believe in gods!
They may be denied jobs if their philosophies become public, but nothing denies them food or shelter. As life goes, they live a fairly good one. If they experience any turmoil, it is usually of their own doing, or their individual circumstances.
Generally, their beliefs do not get in the way of them pursuing the good life. In fact, nothing sets them apart from the other guys. For example, nothing forces them to wear patches on their arms to distinguish them from the “other guys”.
They are protected, more or less, by a Constitution or a code of Human Rights.
Unfortunately, they don't heed that there are those who are successfully advancing interpretations and applications of those declarations that slowly erode freedoms and rights for classes and kinds of people.
Since the erosion appears to only involve “other guys” you let them fight their own fights. Why should you get involved? Why should you be inconvenienced? Why should you protect your neighbors? Let them move!
Similar philosophies permitted Hitler and Stalin to do their thing, but, since you don't, or won't, see a Hitler or a Stalin on your horizon, you have nothing to worry about. For your information, the Jews in Germany didn't believe they had anything to worry about, either.
With the Second World War providing enough drama, horror and action, few will look at what was taking place during the early 1930s in Germany and Austria that led up that war.
If anybody has the inclination to compare the “philosophies” prevalant during the 1930s along with the economics, social conditions, political agendas and propaganda, they would find that there are disturbing similarities to what is occurring today. But, what the heck? That was then – this is now!
    Besides, no sane person lives
. . . without gods!

            Atheist
         Quotes

Religion is fundamentally opposed to everything I hold in veneration — courage, clear thinking, honesty, fairness, and, above all, love of the truth... It has been, at all times and everywhere, the habitual and incorrigible defender of bad governments, bad laws, bad social theories, bad institutions. It was, for centuries, an apologist for slavery as it was an apologist for the divine right of kings.

My definition of morality . . .

“No one should expose another living entity to unwarranted pain, loss, or deprivation!”

My articles may contain words or phrases that may infer different meanings to different readers, or the reader may be unfamiliar with the term or its definition. I feel it is important to know what the writer meant when he used a word or term.

cognitive dissonance
Filtering out information that conflicts with what one already believes, in an effort to ignore that information and reinforce one’s beliefs.

Editors note: I will be repeating the “cognitive dissonance” definition for quite a while since it is practiced by so many — known by so few!
