I am concerned with spiritual and social objectives of our human race with regard to daily life and conduct. I am not concerned with an after-life nor do I believe in supernatural things. I am an Atheist.
I am in my 70th year, was raised by a multi-talented Atheist grandfather, but spent most of my life in a world more sympathetic to Judeo-Christians. While that world provided me with an abundance of social activities and employment, it also exposed me to practices that imposed limits on my desire to be a moral human being. Often, there was no room for morality. There was not a comfortable place in our world for practicing Atheists either. I tried to solve this one when I created my Milesian Society concept.
My grandfather pointed out that our world was obsessed with looking good while being bad. I concur. I read once that, “Morality is the prejudice of the powerful!” As I learned what that meant, I resisted. In applying my belief system, I disenchanted and angered the powerful, or at least those who believed they were powerful and believed they could control my life and lives of others. They believed they could manipulate truth and wanted me to help them.
While the powerful used my talents to further their agendas, they didn't appreciate my value system.
They paid well. I was dismissed often.
It was never a matter of incompetence – just my lack of allegiance. According to them, “I was not controllable!” I agree.
If you were a victim of some of my “hired gun” activities, I am sorry!
If you benefited from some of my personal innovations or activities, great! There were quite a few.
Without Gods! is one of those personal activities. It is my effort to apply Principle Four of my Milesian Society project which says, we should dilligently search for truth and apply it to our society.
If these projects are successful, I thank my grandfather and ancient Greek Milesians who paved my way. I hope my efforts benefit your life. My grandfather and those ancient Greeks would be pleased.
